eTrainU vs Cloud Assess: Which Is Better for NDIS Providers?

eTrainU vs Cloud Assess, which is better for NDIS providers

In short: eTrainU and Cloud Assess get shortlisted together constantly, and they are not competing products. eTrainU is a training library you run. Cloud Assess is an assessment engine you build in. For most NDIS providers eTrainU is the more sensible default, because the disability content arrives written and mapped, so your team does not have to author it. Cloud Assess is the better buy in a narrower set of cases, and when those cases apply it is not close.

  • Best ready-made NDIS and disability content: eTrainU. It ships a disability library it states is auditor-reviewed, and it has been in the Australian sector since the mid 2000s.

  • Best for detailed in-person observed assessment: Cloud Assess. Digital checklists, video evidence, GPS-stamped assessor signatures and Verification of Competency are core product, not an add-on.

  • Best if you are an RTO: Cloud Assess. AVETMISS reporting, USI validation and integrations with aXcelerate, VETtrak and Wisenet are on its own feature list. eTrainU is not built around accredited delivery in the same way.

  • Best for work with no phone reception: Cloud Assess. Genuine offline capability and a native app rated 4.8 from 686 ratings on the App Store.

  • Best for independent proof: Cloud Assess. G2 4.7 from 50 reviews and Capterra 4.7 from 96 reviews, checked 15 September 2026. eTrainU has no comparable public review presence.

  • Best if you want to run the content in an LMS you already own: eTrainU. It supports SCORM delivery and wholesales its content into other platforms.

  • Neither is built specifically for the NDIS Practice Standards as a product category. eTrainU comes closer, because it publishes disability content mapped to them. Cloud Assess does not name the NDIS Practice Standards anywhere on its site.

Who published this, and why that matters

This page is published by Wyzed, which competes with both eTrainU and Cloud Assess. That is a conflict of interest and we are not going to hide it in a footer.

So here is the rule we have written to. Wyzed does not appear in the comparison, the table, the ten criteria or the verdict. The verdict below is a genuine call between eTrainU and Cloud Assess, and for a large share of readers it does not point at us. Wyzed appears once, in a single marked section near the end, which you are welcome to skip. The comparison stands without it.

Every claim about either platform is taken from that vendor's own public material or from a public review site, dated, and linked so you can check it. Where a vendor does not publish an answer we have written that instead of guessing. If something here is wrong or has changed, email info@wyzed.com and we will correct it.

The ten criteria, fixed before we looked at either vendor. Ready-made NDIS content, practical and observed assessment, how a worker actually gets into their training, admin automation, integrations and API, audit evidence, RTO machinery, pricing transparency, independent review presence, and platform currency.

We set those criteria from what NDIS providers actually ask us about in evaluations, and we did not change them once we started scoring, which is the obvious thing to check when a vendor publishes a comparison.

Two things we deliberately did not do. We did not score either platform on features neither publishes, and we did not treat a vendor's own badge as a source where a live third-party number exists. Cloud Assess badges G2 at 4.8 on its own site, while G2 itself showed 4.7 on 15 September 2026. We used the live number.

Which failure mode is yours?

Short answer: the choice between these two is decided by which compliance failure you are actually trying to prevent. There are three common ones, and these platforms fix different ones.

Failure mode one: "We had no module for that." An auditor asks for evidence of training on something specific, restrictive practices, complex bowel care, supported decision making, and there is no course for it. You needed content that already existed, written by somebody who knows the sector. That points to eTrainU.

Failure mode two: "The training was done, but they could not actually do it." An incident happens. The record says the worker completed the module in March. The problem was never the module, it was that nobody ever watched them perform the task and sign it off. That points to Cloud Assess.

Failure mode three: "Nobody had time to run it." The platform was fine. The content was fine. What went wrong is that assigning training, chasing the people who had not done it, collecting the police checks and first aid certificates, tracking expiry dates and assembling the evidence pack was somebody's job on top of their real job, and it slipped.

That third one is the most common of the three, and neither eTrainU nor Cloud Assess is built to solve it. Both hand you a capable platform and rely on your organisation supplying the person who runs it. Keep that in mind as you read the comparison, because it is not a criterion either vendor will put in front of you.

Where is eTrainU genuinely strong?

Short answer: eTrainU is the stronger choice for an NDIS provider who wants sector-specific training that already exists, from a company that has been in the Australian market for around two decades and owns the platform it sells.

It is a real platform company, not a reseller. It builds and runs its own learning management system on its own infrastructure in Sydney, holds ISO/IEC 27001 certification, and publishes a trust centre. Its product has a roadmap, with three named tiers and features like a Skills Passport, digital credentials and AI-assisted course authoring.

For the disability sector specifically, the content is the argument. eTrainU publishes a disability library it states is auditor-reviewed and mapped to the NDIS Practice Standards, and it has a long-standing relationship with the sector. If your problem is that you need courses written by people who understand disability support, that is a serious answer to it.

It also has a native Assess App for in-person competency sign-off with offline sync, so it is not absent from practical assessment. And uniquely among the two, it will deliver content as SCORM into an LMS you already own, which matters if you have already bought a platform and only need the training.

Choose eTrainU if: you need ready-made disability and NDIS content more than you need assessment machinery, you want an established Australian vendor with a long sector track record, or you need SCORM files to run inside a system you already have.

Worth checking in a demo: eTrainU does not publish detail on automated reminders, renewals or integrations, and its pricing is packaged with some capabilities sold as add-ons. Ask for the total cost with everything you actually need switched on, not the base package price. We would also ask to see the learner experience on a phone before signing, given the age of the front-end code on the login page.

Where is Cloud Assess genuinely strong?

Short answer: Cloud Assess is the stronger choice when the thing you need to prove is that a worker can physically perform a task correctly, and when you need that proof to hold up to a regulator.

Observed competency is the product, not a feature bolted on. Its own material describes verifying skills in real time with digital checklists, video evidence and GPS-stamped signatures, Verification of Competency, and practical observation sign-off. If a supervisor has to stand next to someone, watch them do it and sign it off with evidence attached, nothing in this comparison does it better.

It is also the more modern platform on most technical measures. Full offline capability, a native app rated 4.8 from 686 ratings, passwordless sign-in, a published API with webhooks, SSO across Azure AD, Okta and Google Workspace, and native connectors including Employment Hero, SAP, Oracle and Workday.

And it does automate. This is worth stating plainly, because it is a claim competitors get wrong. Cloud Assess publishes automated expiry alerts and renewals, automated induction pathways per role, trigger-based journeys and workflows, and automated reminders and escalations. Its own FAQ claims admin workload reductions of 80 to 90 per cent. Anyone telling you Cloud Assess is a manual tool has not read its site.

It is also the only platform in this comparison with substantial independent validation, at G2 4.7 from 50 reviews and Capterra 4.7 from 96 reviews.

Choose Cloud Assess if: detailed in-person observed assessment is a genuine requirement, your workers operate in places with no reception, you are an RTO delivering accredited qualifications, or you need to integrate deeply with an existing HR stack.

Worth checking in a demo: the content. Cloud Assess is not an NDIS content platform and does not present itself as one. Its published industries are vocational education, mining, construction, engineering, healthcare, aged care, rail and transport. Disability appears as a library filter tag rather than a vertical, "NDIS Practice Standards" does not appear on its site, and we found no named NDIS or disability customer or case study. Ask exactly which NDIS modules you would get, who authored them, and which ones sit behind an enquiry form. Then ask for the price of the employee training tier, because the published "from $600 per month" is the RTO tier.

Which platform has better NDIS content?

Short answer: eTrainU, clearly, and it is the single biggest difference between the two. eTrainU ships a disability library it states is auditor-reviewed. Cloud Assess expects you to bring or build your own content.

This is the fork that decides most NDIS shortlists. Cloud Assess's core product is an assessment builder, which is a genuinely good tool for authoring assessments. It is not a substitute for a library of written, sector-specific modules, and Cloud Assess does not claim it is.

The practical consequence is a project. If you choose Cloud Assess as an NDIS provider, somebody has to write or source the training content before the platform does anything for you, and the NDIS content that does exist in its library is thin and partly third-party authored, with some of it gated behind an enquiry form.

Which platform proves competence better?

Short answer: Cloud Assess, and the gap is real. Both platforms can record that a worker was assessed and signed off. Only Cloud Assess is built around capturing the evidence of the assessment itself.

eTrainU's Assess App does in-person sign-off with offline sync, which covers the common case of a supervisor confirming a worker performed a task. Cloud Assess goes several steps further, attaching photo and video evidence, digital checklists and GPS-stamped assessor signatures to the record, and running Verification of Competency as a defined process.

For most NDIS providers this distinction is not the deciding factor, because most mandatory NDIS training is knowledge-based rather than task-observed. For high-intensity supports, where somebody has to be watched performing a clinical task before they do it unsupervised, it becomes the deciding factor quickly.

Which platform creates less admin work?

Short answer: Cloud Assess, on published capability, but the honest answer is that both still need somebody to run them.

Cloud Assess publishes more automation than eTrainU does, and by some distance. Automated expiry alerts, renewals, role-based induction pathways, trigger-based journeys, reminders and escalations, plus an API that lets another system create users. eTrainU does not publish comparable detail, which does not mean it lacks the features, but it does mean you should ask.

Here is what neither publishes. Neither describes collecting a worker's police check, NDIS worker screening clearance, first aid certificate and qualifications, and chasing the worker until each one is uploaded. Neither describes getting an employee handbook, a service agreement and a set of policies signed with version control, so you can prove which version of a policy a worker actually saw.

Those are not training tasks, which is why neither platform treats them as its problem. They are the tasks an NDIS provider's compliance evidence actually rests on, and in both cases they remain somebody's job.

How does pricing compare?

Short answer: neither publishes a number an NDIS provider can plan with. Both are quote-based for the tier you would actually buy.

eTrainU prices in packages, with three named tiers and capabilities such as the Assess App, digital credentials and custom home pages available as add-ons rather than included. The practical effect is that the quoted base price is rarely the price of the configuration you need. Ask for the all-in figure.

Cloud Assess publishes "from $600 per month" on its pricing page, but that is the RTO tier. The employee training tier, which is what a non-RTO NDIS provider would buy, is quote-only. A per-learner figure appears on G2, but it is vendor-supplied to G2 rather than published by Cloud Assess, so we would not plan a budget on it.

For both, get the quote in writing at your real headcount, with everything you need enabled, and ask what happens to the price when you grow.

The verdict

For most NDIS providers, eTrainU is the better of these two. The reason is simple. The main thing an NDIS provider needs from a training platform is training, written for the sector and mapped to the standards it is audited against. eTrainU ships that and Cloud Assess largely does not. An NDIS provider choosing Cloud Assess is taking on a content project before the platform earns its keep.

Cloud Assess is the better buy in four specific situations, and in those situations it is not a close call. If detailed in-person observed assessment with photo, video and GPS-stamped evidence is a genuine requirement. If your workers operate somewhere with no reception and you need real offline capability. If you are an RTO delivering accredited qualifications and need AVETMISS and USI. Or if deep integration into an existing HR stack is the deciding factor.

If you are weighing them for a general NDIS workforce, with mandatory training, renewals and audit evidence as the core need, choose eTrainU and spend your evaluation time on the questions it does not publish answers to: what the automation actually does, what the total price is with the add-ons you need, and what the learner experience looks like on a support worker's phone.

The question neither platform answers

This is the section where our interest is relevant, and it is marked so you can skip it. The comparison above stands on its own.

Go back to the three failure modes. eTrainU answers the first one, content. Cloud Assess answers the second, proof of competence. Both are good answers.

Neither answers the third one, which is that nobody has time to run it. That is not an oversight by either vendor. It is the shape of the category. Both sell you a capable platform and assume your organisation supplies the person who assigns, chases, collects, tracks, renews and assembles. That person's workload grows with every hire, which is why the problem gets worse exactly as you grow.

Wyzed was built for that third failure mode. It answers three questions rather than two. Was the training completed? Yes. Would they get it right on the day? Yes, the assessment is scenario-based and built around video. And did you have to do the work to get either? No.

Concretely, one trigger runs the whole chain. A hire in your HR or rostering system adds the worker and assigns their role. They sign the employee handbook, the service agreement and the policies with version control. They upload their worker screening, first aid, police check and qualifications, and the system chases them until each one is in. They complete their mandatory and role-based training. Reminders, renewals and re-uploads run for as long as they work there. Audit-ready records come out the other end and completions push back into your other systems. All of it arrives by text and the provider touches none of it.

Three providers run exactly that today. Home Caring runs about 2,000 staff on it and does not touch a person. Allara Support Services triggers it from Employment Hero, with completion events flowing back the other way. Tender Loving Care adds the employee by hand and the system takes over from there, which is the setup most readers will recognise as their own.

"I've tried a lot of different training systems in my 20-year career but nothing even comes close to how fast and easy Wyzed is for the staff to use and how easy it is for the admins. We had 100% compliance across 200 employees, which I've never seen before in any system ever. The roll out took less than 24 hours." Chris Lynch, Learning and Development Manager, Family Based Care (about 200 staff)

What eTrainU and Cloud Assess each do better than Wyzed. Cloud Assess goes considerably further on detailed in-person observed assessment, with GPS-stamped signatures and offline evidence capture. Wyzed does practical assessment and sign-off, and holds the record, but we are not going to claim parity on observed evidence capture. Cloud Assess also has public G2 and Capterra ratings and we do not. eTrainU will deliver SCORM into an LMS you already own, and we will not. If you are an RTO, neither Wyzed nor eTrainU is your answer.

The numbers, so you can check them. Wyzed publishes its pricing at $96 per user per year up to 100 users and $72 above that, with everything included at both rates. Free access first, for at least a month and longer if you need it, with nothing gated and real exportable certificates. Wyzed contracts run 12 months, so every customer reaches a renewal decision each year, and across the past 24 months not one provider has left (Wyzed platform data, September 2026). More than 350 NDIS providers and 18,000 support workers use it, and it has supported more than 900 audits with no non-conformities related to training (Wyzed platform data, September 2026).

Already using eTrainU or Cloud Assess? Switching is free, and we do it, not you. We load your staff, map across every past completion and licence so nobody redoes finished training, and it is live in under 24 hours with no gap in your compliance evidence. See your free migration plan, or start free access for your whole team and judge it on your own staff.

No. Its published industries are vocational education, mining, construction, healthcare, aged care, rail and transport. Disability appears as a library filter tag, and "NDIS Practice Standards" does not appear on its site as at September 2026.

Does eTrainU do practical competency assessment?

Yes. eTrainU has a native Assess App for in-person competency sign-off with offline sync. Cloud Assess goes further, adding photo and video evidence, digital checklists and GPS-stamped assessor signatures.

How much do eTrainU and Cloud Assess cost?

Neither publishes a usable figure for NDIS providers. eTrainU is quote-based and packaged in tiers with add-ons. Cloud Assess publishes "from $600 per month" for its RTO tier only, and quotes its employee training tier privately.

Does Cloud Assess automate reminders and renewals?

Yes. Cloud Assess publishes automated expiry alerts, renewals, role-based induction pathways, trigger-based journeys and escalations, plus an API and SSO. eTrainU does not publish comparable detail, so confirm it with them directly.

Which platform do support workers find easier to use?

Cloud Assess, on published capability. It offers passwordless sign-in and a native app rated 4.8 from 686 ratings. eTrainU uses a login portal, and its learner login still served 2014-era front-end code when we checked in September 2026.

Are there other options besides eTrainU and Cloud Assess?

Yes. Ausmed, Go1, NGO Training Centre, iinduct and Wyzed are all shortlisted by NDIS providers. This page is published by Wyzed, which is why Wyzed is kept out of the comparison above and confined to one marked section.
